First things first: What’s fiber??!
Fiber refers to the natural or synthetic strands—such as wool, cotton, silk, or acrylic—that are spun into yarn or thread and then used to create textiles, fabrics, and handmade items through various crafts.
Fiber arts are creative crafts that use natural or synthetic fibers—like wool, cotton, or silk—to make textiles and decorative items, and they date back thousands of years to some of humanity’s earliest forms of clothing and storytelling. Over time, these traditions have evolved from essential daily skills into expressive, artistic hobbies practiced around the world, blending heritage techniques with modern creativity.
While many fiber arts can be enjoyed solo, they’re especially fun in community—like Fiber In—sharing ideas, learning new skills, and connecting with others makes the experience more inspiring, social, and rewarding.
A list of the more common fiber arts:
Knitting – Making fabric by looping yarn together using two needles to create stretchy, cozy items like scarves and sweaters.
Crochet – Using a single hooked needle to pull loops of yarn together, often creating textured patterns for blankets, hats, and more.
Spinning – Twisting loose fibers (like wool) into yarn using a spinning wheel or spindle.
Weaving – Interlacing threads over and under each other on a loom to create fabric.
Embroidery – Decorating fabric by stitching designs or patterns onto it with a needle and thread.
Cross-stitch – A type of embroidery that uses small X-shaped stitches to create pictures or patterns on fabric.
Braiding – Intertwining strands of fiber, yarn, or thread into decorative or functional patterns.
Making fiber – Preparing raw materials like wool, cotton, or plant fibers so they can be spun into yarn.
Beading – Creating designs or jewelry by stringing or stitching small beads together.
Tatting – Making delicate, lacy designs by tying small knots and loops with thread using specialized tools.
Lace – A decorative openwork fabric made with intricate patterns of loops, knots, or stitches, often very delicate and detailed.
At Fiber In, all fiber arts are welcome! Bring your work in progress, buy some fiber at the event and start something new, and learn something new!
Florida Fiber In is a warm and welcoming annual gathering held over the third weekend in September where people come together to celebrate fiber arts. Creative individuals spend three days creating, learning, and connecting as a community. Anyone with an interest in fiber—whether you’re a complete beginner, an experienced maker, or simply curious—is invited to join.
Fiber In is an inclusive, diverse, creative environment that strives to make everyone feel right at home.
The 2026 Fiber In is Friday, September 18 to Sunday, September 20. Fiber In is held on the 3rd weekend in September of every year.
Fiber In is located at the Holiday Inn Celebration, Kissimmee, FL.
The hotel address is:
5711 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy
Kissimmee, FL 34746
Phone: (407) 396-4222
Follow the signs as you enter the hotel to locate the Fiber In event space.
Fiber In is free. We ask for a $20 donation, but we do not want a lack of funds to be a barrier to attending Fiber In. If you can’t afford to donate, come anyway!
There are also other ways to contribute during the weekend:
Attendees who choose to stay at the hotel pay for their own rooms. Use this link to book your room at the event rate: LINK.
This is an annual event, and 2026 marks the 20th year of Fiber In! Fiber In is held the 3rd weekend in September.

The door gift exchange is a gift you bring to Fiber In, already wrapped, that you think another fiber enthusiast might like. You can buy something or simply shop your own stash! Every year, we get something wonderful! Here are some great gift exchange gift ideas:
The key here is that it’s meant to be a fun present to open, a gift we give to each of us as we create and have fun, together!

On Saturday afternoon, prepare for the most fiber-envious live auction you’ve ever attended, one that makes this event possible—the auction provides about half the funds needed to keep the Florida Fiber In running and allows us to truly say, “The entrance fee is a donation, and if you can’t afford to donate, please come anyway.” If you’re willing and able, buy an item, bring an item of your own (some yarn, a few pattern books, or a completed fiber project) to be auctioned.
Whether or not you can afford a cash donation, our auction is a great way to make room in your stash for all your new purchases from our great vendors and do something good for this fiber community. And to make things (even more) interesting, there are plants up for auction as well! Who doesn’t love a plant?

Have a plant you want to give away? Looking to share a few cuttings? This is the place to do it. We’ll set up a table where plants will live throughout the weekend, and you can participate should you choose to do so! …Some of us, without green thumbs, will avoid this table at all costs. We know who we are.

Bring and donate a baked good packaged for individual portions and feed the crafty! All donated baked goods are $1 each.
All proceeds benefit The Jennifer Nolletti Memorial Art Foundation. Please consider donating baked goods to help this charity.
The theme for 2026 coming soon! Why do we have a theme? Why not? We’ll have a fun event or two, maybe ask attendees to make something small that reflects the theme, perhaps a costume contest. Could be anything. When we say shenanigans… this is what we mean!
Stay tuned!
